Neil Payne graduated from Dublin University (Trinity College) with a Batchelor of Business Studies Degree in 1972. He trained as a chartered accountant in Craig Gardner and Company (Price Waterhouse). He subsequently joined Reynolds Cooper McCarron, a predecessor firm of Ernst and Young and became an audit manager in 1979.

In 1981 he joined Pannell Kerr Forster as an audit manager and was appointed a partner in that firm in 1986. In 1991 the firm reverted to its original name of Ormsby and Rhodes and Neil has continued as a partner in the firm since that date.

Neil is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. His professional experience includes the audit of companies of all sizes, including banks, building societies and public companies.

He has considerable experience in conflict resolution and advice in family company situations. He is also very well known in the insolvency sector and has been appointed liquidator/receiver of more that 100 companies, including High Court appointments and appointments by the Revenue Commissioners and banks. From 1989 to 1993 Neil was a member of the CCAB-I Insolvency Committee.
